Playing In The Rain

Little Man wakes up most mornings asking for cereal and "outside".  I was messing with something in the garage, about to take Matthan outside, when I heard a funny noise outside the garage door.  I opened up the garage door to see yet another summertime deluge.   I brought Matthan into the garage so that he could watch the rain, but he had other plans.

According to my son, when life gives you rain... you play in it of course.

Soaked and happy

Matthan LOVES when I react dramatically to something he does.  The more dramatic, the better.  I got a bucket out to fill it with rain water so that I could use it on my weeds garden, but Matthan decided it was for him.

Matthan dumped the water near me.  I squealed loudly and dramatically.  Commence Matthan giggles.  (I do what I can.)

My Daddy

My Daddy is a special guy who has been taking care of me since I was born...

My Daddy is someone I can really look up to

My Daddy has taught me a love for being outdoors

My Daddy has a killer sense of style

Not to mention, My Daddy can grow a pretty stellar beard

My Daddy feeds me yummy food

And helps me brush my teeth

My Daddy can fix just about anything

From broken bikes to broken hearts

My Daddy works really hard for us and is a great provider

But My Daddy also makes time to play with me and take me for bike rides

My Daddy is really good at snuggling and sometimes shares his bed

My Daddy is a tough guy but he's always a soft place to land

My Daddy squeezes into small spaces and helps me learn the drums

My Daddy reads me lots of stories, sings with me, and prays with me

My Daddy takes me to church and is a great example of God's love

My Daddy is my buddy and he loves me so much!

My Daddy is the best daddy because he's My Daddy.  I know I've got big shoes to fill.

I love you Daddy!  Happy Father's Day!

Picture Dump of Randomness

Matthan has decided that hats are ok, no matter what kind of hat.

Mommy's gardening hat.

~*~

This was a picture that I forgot in my Ode To A Fountain.  At Five Guys they have boxes of peanuts in the restaurant that are self serve.  Matthan ate his weight in peanuts and had little to do with his grilled cheese and "fwies".

~*~

I was making homemade bread with a curious observer who stuck his hands in flour and got it all over himself.

~*~

We had a successful DIY sushi night with Austin.  I think we all ended up in food coma that evening.

This plate doesn't account for the dumplings we had as appetizers and all of the sushi that didn't make it onto the plate.

~*~

More pictures of attempts to grow things.  This phlox (?) sprung up on its own.  Hence the reason it is growing successfully.

We planted some sad looking vegetable and herb plants in our garden that I got on sale at a nursery.  We're hoping to nurse them back to good health and growth.  Don't be fooled, that squash plant is healthy because we did not plant it.

~*~

I bought Matthan an apron with hopes that he'll help me in the kitchen.  His current jobs include spinning the lettuce, shutting the pantry door, and admiring himself in his apron.

A rare few moments where he will actually sit and watch something.

I asked him to make a sad face and this is what I got.

Happy Friday!

This Boy is Growing Up Too Fast

{pretty}

This boy is growing up too fast.  Oh that smile.  Heart. melted.

He has started singing songs and putting words into sentences.

{happy}

He has become proficient in climbing up and down our stairs.

Although he enunciates words quite well, Daddy still loves that Little Man has started saying "nummy" instead of "yummy".

Quotables
 "1...2...3...8...9...10...puppy! shirt! shoes! outside!" ~Matthan

"Nummy asp-ah-GUS, nummy tummy" ~Matthan

Each day begins with a request to go outside followed by a request for cereal.

He has also been asking for snuggles when he wakes up.

{funny}

He's a little more serious but still belly laughs at Mommy.

{real}

This boy is growing up too fast.

Ode to a Fountain - A Poem

Another awesome weekend:  Farmer's market, bike ride, burgers and fries, followed by playing in the fountain.  Here is how the latter went.

He wasn't so sure.  In fact, he ran the other way.

But his momma tried to convince him,
the water, it's really ok.

Momma showed him
how to splish, how to splash,

He started to giggle,
and many smiles did he flash.

He learned that the fountain,
really wasn't so bad.

So he stuck his hand in,
just a little, just a tad.

And then! Oh then!
The boy started to run.

And decided exploding water,
was really oh so much fun.

And when the time was done,
it was time to go.
Momma tried to scoop him up,
and Pooter, he said "NO!"
