Christmas ~ Round 2

I think it's pretty great that we get to celebrate Christmas multiple times.  One of our Christmas presents from my sister and BIL was a date.  They watched Matthan and kicked us out to go to lunch and go bowling.  Well, if you know us, nothing can ever be simple when it comes to me and Tim doing something like going on a date.  We headed to one of the restaurants my sister had recommended, and it wasn't open for lunch.  Then we used Urbanspoon to find another restaurant, and it too was closed.  We stopped by an outdoor equipment store (to look around) and got a restaurant recommendation from the employees there, and finally ended up at a great restaurant that I highly recommend...except that I cannot remember the name of it...sorry...but it was really yummy.

Preface: Every now and then I will send Tim a pin from Pinterest that I think might interest him, but I do not always read the pin before I send it to him.  This has gotten into trouble a couple of times.

Tim's sister had given us a date box for Christmas with questions to ask each other.  We forgot the questions and so I pulled up Pinterest remembering that I had pinned an article on fun questions to ask your spouse while on a date.  So I asked Tim to pick a random number, which led me to #27.... which was... "What is one thing that I do that annoys you?" (who came up with these "fun" questions to ask your spouse?")  To which he promptly replied, "Pin things without actually reading them first."  :/

So I said "okay, okay, pick a different question".  #34 "What is one thing that you would like to change about me?"...  (awesome :/  )

We all gathered at my dad's house for "Christmas morning" round 2.  Which included a yummy breakfast and opening gifts in the Bloomfield way, which includes, opening gifts from youngest to oldest and shooting your wrapping paper into the (laundry) basket.

My sister gave me one of the best gifts ever.  She made a pendent out of lace from my mom's wedding dress... had. no. words.

Christmas ~ Round 1

Merry Christmas everyone!!! We hope and pray that this time of year you and yours are well and blessed.  We stopped in Savannah for round one of Christmas happenings.

They have a tradition in Savannah, where sometime the week before Christmas, Santa Clause comes around on a fire truck, announced by a obnoxious very loud speaker and blaring the sirens, to throw candy to the children.  This was the first time that I got to experience this tradition, and considering my child was already in bed when the sirens and speakers came blaring, the experience left me feeling a little bit like Scrooge.  Luckily, Little Man slept through it (I have no idea how), God bless that child.

Getting candy from Santa

Christmas Eve always includes meatless dishes like spaghetti with nut sauce and eggplant parmesan.  Christmas included a wonderful turkey (because my mother in law loves me) and Grandpa Peter's pecan pie.

Off to Christmas Eve mass

Ava (6), Joey (2), Grandma Mary, Matthan (4mos), Sophia (4)

Can you find the cutest gift?  :)

Advent Busy-ness

...also known as "another post with lots of pictures of Matthan"...but really, are you even interested in what The Hubs and I do these days?...we are not in denial as to why you stop by our blog.  :)  We are in the full swing of Advent, my favorite time of year.  We are preparing to go on another round trip of Georgia to visit both families for Christmas.  So while you're preparing your heart for the coming of baby Jesus, here are some picture of our little one.

Thanksgiving ~ Round 2

After eating lots of turkey, we repacked and drove some more to go visit my family.  We got in some good family time...and some (more) good food...and of course... doubles ping-pong championships.  I was on the winning this year :D

Thanksgiving ~ Round 1

This is a very busy time of year for us.  We debated several different options of how we were going to spend the holidays this year, and after much angst we circled back to doing what we have always done which is visit both families over the four day Thanksgiving weekend - meaning a lot of driving, a lot of packing and repacking, but a lot of turkey and a lot of family and good times.  In the end, it was worth it.  Not sure if we will do it the same way next year, but we'll worry about that next year.  A few photos from this month first...

There was a halloween party and costume contest at Tim's work so of course we had to dress up our cute little boy.  My sister had passed down this tiger costume and it went perfectly with Tim's cowboy costume, because what more does a cowboy need than his tiger? :)  Matthan wasn't so sure.

What every cowboy needs...his tiger :)

Cute little face

We went shopping for Matthan's first Christmas tree before leaving for the holidays.  Clearly he was excited.  Only real Christmas trees in this house.  Smells. So. Good.

I had a wedding shower to attend one weekend so Tim decided to test out his early Christmas present (thanks Grandma Mary!) and take our Little Man for a hike.  Little Man technically isn't big enough, but Tim made it work by padding Matthan with some cloth diapers.  Necessity is the mother of invention!

Cloth diapers make great pillows :)

On our whirlwind Thanksgiving weekend, we visited Tim's family in Savannah first.  We took Matthan to the playground for the first time.  I think he quite enjoyed it.

We tried to feed the ducks, but every time we tried to move to a new area to feed the ducks, the geese would swarm around us.  They were SO LOUD and squawked just a couple feet away from our heads and Matthan just sat there, calm as could be, blissfully unaware that these geese were flying close enough to eat him.

Yes, that goose really is only 2 feet from my head

We spend lots of time with family, and of course the cousins love their "Baby Matthan".  They just could not get enough of him.

Matthan has discovered his thumb.  It is the cutest thing ever (to me anyway).  He hasn't quite finessed this talent yet as he ends up palming his entire face.

And of course, our Little Man continues to smile :)

3 Months Old

At Matthan's last pediatrician appointment, about a week ago, he measured 25 inches long (90th percentile for length/height) and weighed 11 pounds 12 ounces.  Our Little Man is growing fast.

No pictures with Broc...we're slackers we were just too busy with traveling for Thanksgiving weekend.  He is usually very calm, quiet, and seems a little serious...unless he's hungry or tired.    He likes to be in his own space to sleep...rarely falls asleep in someone's arms.

3 months old - fell asleep in Daddy's lap

It's getting really hard to get pictures of him smiling because he is so aware of my phone (which is usually what I take pictures of him on).  I usually have to hide the phone until he smiles and then try to capture it...resulting in a blurry picture most of the time.

Sweet boy conked out

He can now roll onto his side from his back.  He's not really interested in toys, but loves to suck on blankets, burp cloths, clothes, etc.  He sucks his thumb.

Came home to this cuteness the other night

He can sit up with assistance (I have a contoured back pillow in the rocking chair that keeps him propped up).

Helping mommy with laundry = sitting there looking adorable while mommy puts away laundry

His whole face lights up when he smiles.  He laughs!  Oh how I love to hear him laugh, but he doesn't do it that often...and mostly just for me :)
